Digital Twin Laboratories For Online Practical Learning [Publication]
Our digital twin solution to remote challenges in learning has been published in the open access Production and Manufacturing Research journal – reaching and aiding a global academic and industrial research audience.
Our R&D team have been leading a collaboration with the University of Derby and Innovate UK to investigate digital twin laboratories, and the benefits of simplifying their creation for use within virtual and VR learning tools. The findings, explored through an electrical laboratory example, look to significantly reduce application turnaround time and cost.
By enabling the online replication of laboratories and practical scenarios, the research will help lecturers, among others, to produce interactive, accessible and resilient tools for remote practical learning – tackling issues revealed during the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining a hands-on approach to teaching.
The publication of our R&D is a prominent example of how continual investment in innovation is helping us to identify and pioneer real-world answers to industry’s questions. Production and Manufacturing Research is an open access journal specialising in the digital transformation of manufacturing. With editors and readership across the globe, it opens up high-quality innovation to, and discussion within, the industry and wider research community.
