Building a brighter future with Over the Wall Camp

Making a difference together and using our skills for good, we supported Over The Wall Camp on their expansion into their new home at Ockbrook. We contributed our visual expertise to UK-based charity Over the Wall Camp to help bring their new home in Ockbrook, Derbyshire, to life.

Helping bring the magic and mischief to more young people, we partnered with Over the Wall Camp (OTW), a charity helping to provide confidence and freedom to children with long-term illnesses. They organise a free residential camp that enables children to be brave, have fun with others and be reminded of what it means to be a child.

Ranging from swooping drones to a black-tie gala dinner, Bloc’s involvement covered a variety of aspects. Led by project manager Tamara, our team first visited the Ockbrook School site to witness the true scale of what OTW were planning to accomplish. Bringing magical gardens and therapeutic spaces to transform the 17-acre area into a space where imaginations and the campers themselves can be free.
Keith, Tamara, and Sean visited Over The Wall, the future home of the children’s charity’s UK headquarters. This historic location, formerly Ockbrook Boarding School, founded in 1799, marks the start of a bold transformation. With a long-term lease secured, the charity is reimagining the space as a fully accessible community hub. Making a difference together and using our skills for good. The team’s technology, immersive expertise, and event experience capabilities helped.

Once the aspirations were made clear, it was up to our editorial, modelling and animation teams to deliver a short video showcasing what this transformation could achieve, to really encourage more donations and investments contributing to the project. The team revisited the site and captured high-altitude drone footage to ensure the size and scale of Ockbrook were captured. Securing birds-eye-view angles provided our modelling teams with essential reference material for design overlays of the new building developments. This enabled motion graphics work to visualise the planned expansions directly onto the existing buildings. The quick, agile movement of the drones provided the scope to really emphasise the power of the magic in the transformation and the freedom that the children can experience.

Our editorial team made a visual and thematic narrative revolving around the spread of magic across the site, illustrating how the power of OTW can completely re-envision not only the physical space but a child’s sense of possibility. The brand icons helped reveal the new plans for treehouses and canteens, complemented seamlessly by footage of previous campers, highlighting the charity’s proven impact on young lives.

Visually taking audiences over the wall, the video relates itself to the actual journey the children will undertake, making it clear how important that first step into their own ability is in building confidence. The exciting and emotional tones of the video were met with a similar reception during the screening at the Over the Wall annual gala. Tamara and Steve were in attendance to witness the impact our work had not only on the staff members but potential donors.

We’re delighted to have helped raise over £105,000 on the night for OTW. A huge step towards delivering the magic of Ockbrook to those who deserve it. We’re committed to using our digital and creative expertise to power projects that make a lasting impact and help local organisations transform lives. Helping bring better opportunities and more confidence to as many young people as possible.
